Standardizing the Normative Pre-Arthritic Hip Joint Space Width: an Analysis of 1,007 Hips

The current literature is lacking normative values for the hip joint space width (JSW) of patients with intraarticular pathologies of the pre-arthritic hip joint. The purposes of this study were (1) to define a normal hip joint space width in symptomatic and asymptomatic patients with various degrees of acetabular coverage based on the lateral center edge angle (LCEA) and (2) to determine predictors of JSW using various patient-specific variables.
